7、soverthe20052006periodisalsoprovidedfvalueaddedemployment.AnnualaccountsdatafromtheCentralBalanceSheetOfficeareusedfthecalculation3whichbalancedoutagainsttheUSeconomy.Economicgrowthintheeuroareaisestimatedtohaverisenfrom

8、anaverageof1.5p.c.in2005to2.8p.c.in2006(GDPinvolume)thehighestratesincethebeginningofthecentury.HowevertherisingactivitytheriskofinflationresultedinmostcentralbanksraisingtheirinterestratesincludingtheECBsgradualincrease

9、initsbenchmarkrate.InBelgiumtheevolutionwaspronouncedtoosinceeconomicgrowthreached2.9p.c.in2006against2p.c.theyearbefe.AtgloballevelgrowthwasstillmainlydrivenbytheAsianeconomies.Wldtradepickedupalmostequalledthepaceseeni

10、n2004itsexpansionstillfarexceedingthatofwldGDP3.TheBelgianeconomyismainlydrivenbythetertiarysectasapproximately75p.c.ofGDPisderivedfromservicesrangingfromtransptcommunicationstobusinessservices.Thisistheresultofthedeindu

11、strialisationaccompaniedbytheoutsourcingrelocationofasubstantialshareofindustrialactivitiesfromthelate1980sonwardstheensuingboomofservicestransptsectsoverthesameperiod.Thatpercentageisroughly10p.c.higherthantheaveragefth

12、eEU27.In20042005investmentsurgedintheservicesectsespeciallymaritimetransptlogisticalservicesfollowedbyasubstantialincreaseinindustrialsectsthenextyear.Globalisationkeepsintensifyingshippedvolumeskeepgrowing4alongwithever

13、strengtheningtradingrelationswiththerestofEuropeinwhichtheEUenlargementplaysaconsiderableparttherestofthewld.BelgianfeigntradeisdynamicintheEUwithrespecttoitsannualproduction5whichmakesourcountryverydependentonitstranspt

14、infrastructurelogistics.BelgiumisregardedasatransitcountryitsseaptsareseenasmajEuropeangatewaysthatsupplythewholecontinent.AboveallBelgianEuropeanptsconsequentlyallmodesoftransptdrawdirectbenefitfromthegrowthofinternatio
