4、the image of Saint Mary written in the missionary Chinese biographies in the Ming and Qing dynasty. And it summarizes three characteristics on the nativization and literalization of the image of Saint Mary in the 20th ce

5、ntury Chinese literature—the adjustment from the virgin to the mother's role; the changing consciousness of family and social; the awakening of consciousness from deity to human. The first data collections and checks

6、 on the image of Saint Mary in the 20th century Chinese literature is a basis supplementary work for the researches on the relationship between the 20th century Chinese literature and Christian character themes. Then the

7、 paper has a system carding and research for the image of Saint Mary in the 20th century Chinese literature. Finally, it analyses the specific characteristics and the historical development route of the image of Saint Ma

8、ry in the five texts, which has a significance value for the theme studies of the 20th century Chinese literature. Studies on the relationship between the 20th century Chinese literature and Christian culture is a hot ac

9、ademic research on current comparative literature. The theme and purpose of this paper is hope to as a basic supplement for these researches. In addition, the study of the image of Saint Mary in the 20th century Chinese
