9、eopeningthroughthesideofthepressurechamber.Adesiredairpressureadmittedtothepressurechamberconsequentlytothetopofthepousplatecreatesapressureacrossthepousplate.Thesaturatedsoilsamplesontheplatesestablishequilibriumwiththe
10、waterintheplate.Thewaterheldatatensionlessthanthepressureacrossthepousplatewillthenmoveoutofthesoilthroughtheplateoutthroughthedraintube.Whenwaterhasceasedtoflowfromthesamplepousplate(indicatingequilibriumfthatparticular
11、tension)themoisturecontentofeachsampleisdetermined.Aseriesofthesetestsatvarioustensionsisrequiredtoprepareacompletecurveofthecapillarymoisturerelationshipfanyparticularsoil.4.Apparatus4.1Anassemblyoftheapparatusisshownin
