1、It is studied in this paper that applying the quaternary ammonium salts and chitosan as antibacterial agent to endow the wool fabric with durable antimicrobial performance.Wool fabrics are more and more popular because o
2、f their excellent wear-comfort, but with poor microbiological resistance. The quaternary ammonium salts are often used as the finishing agents, such as softening agents, antistatic agents, antibacterial agents。Chitosan i
3、s a kind of nontoxic environment friendly natural macromolecule material that exists widely in the shells of insects and shellfishes. Chitosan is a widely preferred finishing agent of wrinkle and microorganism resistance
4、 of fabrics as it has good biodegradability, hygroscopicity, reaction activity, adsorption, and bioactivity. To endow the wool fabric with antimicrobial performance is very significant to human health and environment.
5、 Carboxylate groups in wool protein were employed to form ionic interactions with actionic antimicrobial agents, such as cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and other quaternary ammonium salts, under the isoelectric point o
6、f wool protein, and such interactions were proven effective. The uptakes of the agents were dependent on their chemical structures, pH values of treatment solutions, concentration of the agents, and treatment temperature
7、. The wool fabrics, which are finished with quaternary ammonium salts as antibacterial agent have perfect antimicrobial performance, the resistant bacterial rate beyond 99%. And it is easy to find the ionic interactions
8、between the agents and the protein could survive repeated laundering treated by the standard FZ/T02021-92, the antibacterial resistance rates are over 90%. Two processes are studied to finish the wool fabric, includ
9、ing re-oxygenation treatment with chitosan, and BTCA with chitosan mixed treatment. Analysis the testing results through mathematic methods to find out the best process parameters, and systemicly analysis how the paramet
10、ers affect the mechanical property and antibacterial performance. The resistant bacterial rate of wool fabric with the re-oxygenation treatment and chitosan is over 85%, and with BTCA with chitosan reaches beyond 99.86%,
