2、f behavior way which is symbolic, performing and stipulated by cultural tradition. It could be either sacred or secular. The Tujia nationality’s marriage ceremony, which is created and developed in the long history of th

3、eir culture, is the concrete manifestation and reflection of their material and spiritual wealth with a unique pattern and feature of its own. This thesis regards the marriage ceremony of Tujia, which is a behavior and

4、symbolic expression of its ethnic characteristics, as a breakthrough point of analyzing the change of folk culture of Tujia nationality. The marriage ceremony of an ethnic group itself is changing unceasingly and simulta

5、neously, which is also an essential variable reflecting and participating in the society culture change. In terms of this logic, the article probes into the folk custom and cultural behavior, the marital ceremony of Shem

6、ihu village. Selecting Shemihu, a Tujia village, as a sample, the author discloses the features, motivation and development trend of the traditional Tujia marriage ceremony changes after the analysis of the current tran

7、sition of the traditional marital ritual through comprehensive application of participant observation method, in-depth interview and comparative analysis approach. Therefore, the thesis would be contributed in coordinati

8、ng the tradition culture resource and the contemporary one, accelerating the healthy and scientifical development of marriage culture in minority areas. Besides the introduction, there are three chapters in this thesis.

9、Chapter one generally describes the traditional marriage ritual of the invested village from three stages, pre-wedding, wedding and marriage. It also analyzes the characteristics of the village’s traditional marriage cer

10、emony. Combined with other survey data, the second chapter explores the transition features of current Tujia marital rite based on the wedding of a newly married couple. Chapter three explores and discusses the reasons o
