4、 interactions between Edna and “non-important person”— Adèle may bring to her awakening self. By analyzing the six important settings in the discourse between Edna and Adèle, this dissertation dynamically revea

5、ls Edna’s process of awakening, which demonstrates that the author concentrates not only on the heroine’s internal world but also on her communications with the external world. Based on the presentation of the awakening

6、self in the process which ranges from reference and comparison to doubt and alienation with Adèle, this dissertation tries to explore a philosophic question that how a developing relationship between self and others
