2、arim Basin, created the flourishing Kroren culture and injected vitality into the Silk Road. But, after the disappearance from the stage of history, no group called the “Kroren People” in the ancient Chinese language
3、documents or other travels any longer. However, during Qing Dynasty, a particular group, no matter recorded in travels, official records or historical documents, appeared to live along the upstream and downstream of Ta
4、rim valley. They are called Lopnorian. The Lopnorian is a special group of Uygur and now distributes in Cherchen County, Lopnor County, Bugur County, Shayar County and other districts around Kroren Culture Area. Not
5、only is their life style traditional, but also some aspects, such as their religion beliefs, life etiquettes concerning their knowledge of the Solar, numerical concept, attitude towards fire, are obviously different f
6、rom other oasis groups. Their custom about making five-layer shrouds for the female and four-layer ones for the male, form of grave, method of making the so-called Kirgiz cap for men, are the same as Kroren people’s.
7、About issues including the origin, racial characteristics, dialects of Lopnorian, some fruitful researches have been done in the academic circles. However, there is still a gap in studying on the cultural relationship
8、between Lopnorian and Kroren people presently. This paper deeply explores the relationship between Lopnorian and Kroren people based on the academic research methods involving studying historical documents and materi
9、als, doing relics archeology, on-the-spot investigation, interviewing etc. The paper is composed of four parts. The first part briefly states the relics excavated in Kroren Culture Area and their symbolizations, defin
10、ition of Kroren culture, symbols, building structures, forms of grave etc. The second part is about the traditional culture of Lopnorian including life etiquettes, dresses, buildings, graves and symbols. The third par
11、t concerns the cultural relationship between Lopnorian and Kroren people as well as other groups, for instance, the Uighur, the Kirgiz, and the Qiang. The last part refers to the origin and the succession issues of Lo
