2、 of the translation of Chinese classics has become more and moreimportant in academic research fields, especially in recent years. Chinese classicscontain numerous culture-loaded terms and the translation of these cultur
3、e-loadedterms is critical to cultural exchange. Culture-loaded terms constitute the essential partof Chinese classics, drawing plenty of attention to the studies of their translationversions of these terms. The studies o
4、n the translation versions of culture-loadedterms make a great contribution to the propagation of Chinese classics and thus also tothe cross-cultural communication between Chinese and the Western.As one of the eight famo
5、us representative figures in the Tang and Song Dynasty,Su Shi wrote numerous literary works, some of which have been translated intoEnglish since the early 1890s. As is known to all, most of Chinese and foreigntranslator
6、s and scholars concentrate on studying the translation of his poetry and ci,especially the poetry which is more often talked about, while the study on thetranslation of Su Shi’s prose is not so common. Chibi Fu is a mast
7、erpiece of Su Shi,however, by now, only few comprehensive studies have been done to analyze theculture-loaded terms of Chibi Fu. Therefore, the study on the translation strategies ofculture-loaded terms in its different
8、versions can broaden the researches of Chibi Fu.Functional Equivalence Theory was put forward in 1964 by Eugene A. Nida,which indicates that translators should give priority to the receptors’ response and thatthe closest
9、 natural equivalence should also be taken into account in translating. Nidapoints out that there are two kinds of equivalence: formal equivalence and functionalequivalence. The former is text-oriented, while the latter i
10、s reader-oriented. Asuccessful translation is that the effects brought to target readers should be the sameas what the source text brings to original readers, which can provide a new researchperspective for the translati
