4、ave the functions of cultural translation, in fact, it is the double conversion of the language and culture. (Wang Guanglin, 2002) This is not a simple problem of restoration, which built all kinds of bias, and some even

5、 challenges the current translation theories and techniques, is indeed a subject which deserves a considerable research. This thesis attempts to use communicative and cognitive principles of the relevance theory, and the

6、 derived Principle of equal inferential distance, analyze and interprete the back translation problems in literary translation of Chinese diaspora. Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club, the writing of Chinese story has many simil

7、arities with other Chinese writings of the similar kind, in the translation of this work, many problems arise, which also exist in other Chinese literary works. Therefore, to explore the appropriate translation method of

8、 the work will also help address the problems of other Chinese translation of literary works, which has rather practical significance. The research of Chinese diaspora has realistic importance and frontier nature because

9、 of the ethnic background of the author and the special nature of the subject matter. There must be considerable development in the future. However, “serious shortage in Chinese translation of literary works, resulted in

10、 the bottleneck effect on the research of Chinese diaspora.“ (Hu Yong, 2003:27) Therefore, it can be predicted that a large number of translated works of Chinese diaspora has become an inevitable trend. Key words: back-t
