1、語言中的詞匯是一個動態(tài)的開放的系統(tǒng)，是語言中最為活躍的因素。作為人們表達思想和交流信息的工具，語言總是隨著社會生活的變化而變化，而語言變化最明顯、最直接的表現(xiàn)就是在詞匯上。綜上所述，新詞語自然的成為當前語言學中一個重要的研究對象。
本文以英語新詞語為研究對象，考察其來源及特點，并將研究對象置于與語言發(fā)展變化相關聯(lián)的社會背景語境下，探究新詞語產(chǎn)生的諸多因素。
本論文沒有局限于對英語新詞語來源等概貌性的靜態(tài)描寫上，而是以
