簡(jiǎn)介:上海交通大學(xué)博士學(xué)位論文晚清科學(xué)圖書出版研究姓名韓建民申請(qǐng)學(xué)位級(jí)別博士專業(yè)物理學(xué)(物理學(xué)史)指導(dǎo)教師江曉原20050401人群。強(qiáng)相關(guān)人群是指那些格致書院、新式學(xué)堂的學(xué)生,通過系統(tǒng)地學(xué)習(xí),這些科學(xué)圖書的知識(shí)已經(jīng)成為他們知識(shí)體系的重要組成部分;產(chǎn)生反應(yīng)人群是指那些文人、士紳、維新人士,他們通過這些科學(xué)圖書認(rèn)識(shí)了自然和世界,產(chǎn)生了變法自強(qiáng)的危機(jī)感,并進(jìn)一步推動(dòng)了社會(huì)變革弱相關(guān)人群是指文化較低的底層民眾,這些科學(xué)圖書通過報(bào)紙和眾口相傳等形式間接地使他們了解了自然和世界的一些基本常識(shí),產(chǎn)生了朦朧的危機(jī)自強(qiáng)意識(shí),并成為社會(huì)運(yùn)動(dòng)的基礎(chǔ)力量;2通過分析,指出了科學(xué)圖書在底層民眾的傳播是借助清末閱報(bào)活動(dòng)和眾口相傳兩種形式完成的,并初次探討了書和報(bào)在底層民眾中傳播互動(dòng)的情況。第三章以“西譯中述”這種科學(xué)圖書的翻譯方式為紐帶,筆者選擇中外雙方各一個(gè)有代表性的人物案例進(jìn)行研究。外方選取了翻譯科技圖書最多、譯書時(shí)間最長(zhǎng),并對(duì)科技圖書發(fā)行、印刷都有涉及的英國(guó)人傅蘭雅。主要探討他在中國(guó)早期科學(xué)傳播過程中的貢獻(xiàn),并結(jié)合史料對(duì)發(fā)生在他身上的一些模糊認(rèn)識(shí)重點(diǎn)進(jìn)行了梳理分析。在研究中方人物時(shí),本文進(jìn)行了新的嘗試,即把所有參與晚清“西譯中述”的中方人士看作一個(gè)“述”群體來研究。這一嘗試確實(shí)使筆者發(fā)現(xiàn)了該整體一些新的特點(diǎn)和規(guī)律,如從籍貫統(tǒng)計(jì)資料發(fā)現(xiàn)這一群體絕大多數(shù)出自江浙地區(qū),并且在這些人身上都不同程度地折射出“崇文尚學(xué),注重實(shí)踐,忠貞愛國(guó),自強(qiáng)自立”這一江浙地區(qū)的民性特點(diǎn);從譯書過程中“述”群體與“譯”群體的比較得出其創(chuàng)造性不在“譯”之下的結(jié)論;從這一群體的知識(shí)結(jié)構(gòu)和相對(duì)傳統(tǒng)的性格特征分析其局限性等問題,從而揭示了“西譯中述”科學(xué)出版過程中“譯”和“述”之間的辯證關(guān)系。版權(quán)問題是翻譯出版科學(xué)圖書的內(nèi)容基礎(chǔ),以往研究版權(quán)和西學(xué)傳播基本上是平行的兩條線,互不交叉,本文第四章試圖打通二者之間的關(guān)系,進(jìn)而全面的看待晚清所產(chǎn)生的版權(quán)問題。創(chuàng)新之處主要有兩點(diǎn)1創(chuàng)造性提出了科學(xué)出版與傳播主體的變化是晚清后期版權(quán)問題產(chǎn)生的主要原因之一,而不僅僅是國(guó)際伯爾尼公約簽訂和國(guó)內(nèi)盜版盜印嚴(yán)重這兩個(gè)原因,糾正了以往對(duì)這~問題研究的偏差。進(jìn)一步結(jié)合晚清續(xù)修商約的有關(guān)史料論述了版權(quán)與出版?zhèn)鞑サ年P(guān)系,為科學(xué)傳播史和版權(quán)史之間架起了一座橋梁。在印刷部分結(jié)合史料對(duì)“晚清時(shí)期為何譯印科技圖書恰恰不用活字膠印而用中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)雕版”這一問題提出了科技圖書印刷量小,采用中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)雕版更方便實(shí)用是主要原因,而與中上層知識(shí)分子閱讀習(xí)慣2
