2、 on the development of individual. The emotion understanding develops rapidly in infant phase. The purpose of this research is to verifying the age and gender general tendencies and the characteristic of the developmen
3、t of children’s emotion understanding. There are 150 children in this study, they took five tasks: simple emotion understanding, understanding of the role of external causes, desire-based emotion understanding, belief-
4、based emotion understanding, mixed emotion understanding. The results indicated: (1) The level of Children’s emotion understanding growing with age. The gender difference is not significant. Children’s understanding of
5、 positive emotion is superior to negative emotion. (2) The order of children’s cognition ability of four basic emotions is happy, angry, sad, fear. Children from 4 to 5 years old are in the critical period of the ability
6、 of the cognition ability of angry. (3) The order of children’s ability for understanding of the role of external causes is happy, fear, sad, angry. Boys from 4 to 5 years old are in the critical period of the ability fo
7、r understanding of the role of external causes. (4) Children before 4 to 5 years old don’t have the ability of belief-based emotion understanding. Children’s ability of belief-based emotion understanding appears later th
8、an desire-based emotion understanding. (5) The ability of boy’s emotion understanding develops rapidly from 4 to 5 years old, and the ability of girl’s emotion understanding develops rapidly from 5 to 6 years old. Key wo
